AMMAN - The Ministry of Justice on Wednesday announced that it will float a tender to supply electronic bracelets for monitoring detainees and prisoners after the end of the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

Introducing the device aims to reduce the number of detainees in reform and rehabilitation centres and is expected to be in use in about three months, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In a statement to Petra, Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni said that the implementation of this monitoring mechanism comes in accordance with the provisions of Article 114 of the Criminal Procedure Law No. 9 of 1961 and its amendments.
