Preliminary designs for a new model garden in the Northern Governorate are being drawn up as regular maintenance works continue on other parks in the area.

Land has been allocated in Block 1019 for the Demistan Model Park, said Northern Municipal Council’s financial, administrative and legislative committee chairwoman Zainab Jassim.

She added that work was underway with experts at the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s project management department to chart the preliminary blueprint for the park.

“The area is in need of a model public park with green spaces and modern games with the highest quality specifications as well as rest stops and a walkway,” she said.

“Negotiations are underway with experts to add a football pitch within the park as requested by the residents.

“This park is among the ministry’s plan for the future and a foundation stone will be laid as soon as the blueprints are finalised.”

Meanwhile, through continuous follow-up and co-operation with the Northern Municipality, regular maintenance work was being carried out on two parks in Demistan – one on Road 2212 in Block 1022 and the other on Road 1926 in Block 1019.
