Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) is expected to award the main contract for the supply and installation of two 11/132 kV main substations in Egaila E and Sabhan F by the second quarter of 2023.

“The bids have been submitted and are currently under evaluation with contract award expected by early April 2023,” a source close to the project told Zawya Projects.

The bidding companies have requested to extend the first insurance and the request was made on 28 November 2022, the source said.

The shortlisted bidders are Petro Energy International Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Contracting Company; Al Thuwaini Trading Company, and The National Contracting Company, officials from three companies confirmed.

The tender was issued on 10 April 2022 with a bid submission date of 12 June 2022.

The commercial bidders were Al Thuwaini Trading Company ($24 million), The National Contracting Company ($28 million), Petro Energy International Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Contracting Company ($23.7 million), and National Company for Electricity Boards ($25 million).

The project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025, a second source told Zawya Projects.
