Iraq has increased the cost estimates for the under-construction Nahrawan sewage project in Nahrawan district, located southeast of Baghdad by more than 23 billion Iraqi dinars ($16 million), the official spokesperson of the planning ministry said.
Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi told Zawya Projects that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim has allowed the cost increase for sewage project, which was included in the development programme for Baghdad governorate in 2021.
Al-Hindawi said the cost increase comes within the framework of the government programme’s prioritising projects that provide basic services for citizens.
He noted that the total cost of the project stands revised to IQD 284 billion ($195 million).
