Oman has invited bids for procurement, installation, ownership and operation of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential premises as part of a nation-wide drive to expand the use of solar power in the Gulf nation, the local press reported on Thursday.
A Request for Proposals tender for the first phase was issued by the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) under its Sahem initiative, which is part of the country's long-term development strategy dubbed Vision 2040, the Arabic language daily Al-Watan and other papers said.
Sahem provides a regulatory framework for households and businesses to install grid connected PV systems.
Five hundred homes will be selected for installation of PV panels in the first phase, Al-Watan said, quoting an APSR report.
31 December 2020 is the deadline for submission of RFP documents.
