The India government will release guidelines and issue tender for incentives under the “Green Hydrogen Mission” by the first half of the financial year 2023-24, Indian financial daily The Economic Times reported on Monday.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla told the newspaper that a draft for the incentive schemes has been prepared, with the consultation process likely to start soon.

The minister added that the government wants to expedite the guidelines and tender but is also aiming to bring clarity to enable companies to start planning to manufacture electrolysers or produce green hydrogen.

India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission has an outlay of $2.42 billion to push the country’s green hydrogen production capacity to at least five million tonnes per year, with associated renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 gigawatts.
