UK research & development company will display FTTH technologies following demand from operators in the region
Suffolk, United Kingdom: UK-based company United Technologists Europe Limited (UTEL) today announced it will be making its Middle East debut at the Gulf International Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2015 in Dubai.
The leading research and development company will be showcasing its innovative Fast Light technology and copper test solutions at GITEX - taking place October 18-22 at Dubai World Trade Centre.
"With the FTTH market exploding in the Middle East and the demand for new technologies rapidly increasing, there has not been a better time to make our mark," said Frank Kaufhold, Managing Director of UTEL. "As Middle East operators begin their transition from copper to fibre networks, this is the best time to debut our innovative technologies, especially Fast Light which is vital to move forward initiatives like the Smart Home and Internet of Things (IoT)."
Fast Light - an easy to use system that can test fibre cable systems and report any issues that are affecting service - is UTEL's system for monitoring and managing Fibre Optic cables. Fast Light uses UTEL's revolutionary Advanced Reflection Detection (ARD) technology which sets a new global benchmark for optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) performance and has the potential to greatly reduce the cost of building and operating fibre networks.
Alongside Fast Light, UTEL's copper test solutions will be displayed at the show. These solutions deliver improved repair time for high revenue xDSL services at lower Operational Costs (OPEX) and can be customised specifically for customer requirements.
"At UTEL, we have been researching and designing centralised copper test systems for many years and developed a good understanding of the issues operators face," added Kaufhold. "We have spoken to many Middle East operators who have expressed their frustrations and we believe we have the technology they are looking for."

About UTEL
United Technologists Europe Limited (UTEL) is a founder owned UK limited company, incorporated in 1993 by two R&D engineers Frank Kaufhold and Paul Grafton. Their ambitions were simple if idealistic: - They wanted to build a commercially successful R&D focussed company without compromising their own ethical and environmental values and create an unconstrained working environment that would maximise innovative productivity.
Today UTEL has more than 50 employees in the UK, France and China with the majority directly focussed on R&D and a turnover of 20 million Euros. All manufacturing and installation of UTEL's solutions is carried out by European subcontractors under the company's direct control. Unusually, this commercial success has been achieved purely through organic growth and internal reinvestment without outside financial support.
UTEL's key markets are Copper and Fibre Test Access Switches and testing solutions. The company's strength is its ability to innovate and create optimal solutions at lightning speed. UTEL's area of expertise covers a wide range of disciplines including analogue and digital electronics, mathematics, software, mechanical and production engineering and has recently been extended to cover civil engineering to enable the costs to be taken out of FTTC deployment.
