Dubai - Turkish Airlines, Europe's Best Airline*, announced increased flights to Malaga at a roadshow with The Andalusia Tourist Board and Malaga-Costa del Sol held for Dubai travel agents. Building on an extensive Southern Europe network, the additional flights will cater for Andalusia's growing appeal as a holiday destination for tourists from the UAE.

The event, held at Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel in Dubai, was attended by senior officials from Turkish Airlines and Spanish tourism authorities who hosted a workshop for local agents and presented the tourism highlights of the Andalusia region including famed attractions in Malaga, Seville, Granada, Ronda and Marbella.

Mr Emre Ismailoglu, General Manager for Dubai & Northern Emirates said: "As part of our Widen Your World campaign we encourage passengers to explore new horizons like the incredibly diverse region of Andalusia. Our increased flights to Malaga will meet the growing demand for tourists travelling to Southern Spain over the peak summer season."

Mr Ismailoglu announced that three additional weekly flights to Malaga will be operated from the global carrier's hub in Istanbul during the peak summer season, bringing the total number of weekly flights to 10 per week. The new flights will run from 4 August 2014 to 29 August 2014.

He added: "To further highlight our connections throughout Southern Europe we are working closely with tourism authorities to showcase destinations that appeal to travellers from the Gulf. Earlier this year we hosted a FAM trip to Malaga, offering agents from the UAE the opportunity to explore Andalusia and its many attractions, from the arabesque influenced palaces and architectural masterpieces, to the bustling cities and luxurious coastal resorts."

The group explored the diverse natural landscape which runs from the heat of the Guadalquivir River valley through to luxuriant mid-mountain areas, volcanic landscapes such as the Tabernas desert, and the snow-capped peaks of Sierra Nevada. The Guadalquivir is Andalusia's most important river and brings life to many areas in its journey across the region.

Andalusia sits at the Axis between Europe and Africa where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.  In barely forty kilometres you can go from Alpine mountain landscapes to tropical areas on the shores of the Mediterranean with the coast stretching for almost 900 kilometres. The tourist attractions range from impressive monuments, palaces and Arabian architecture, to luxurious coastal resorts and small artisan villages.

Travellers can take advantage of flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Istanbul for connections to Malaga and the carrier's 254 destinations. Flight schedules and bookings can be made through www.turkishairlines.com or visit any Turkish Airlines sales office.
