Tejari Service Providing Quick, Simple Information to Trading Partners

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - SMS (short messaging service) or text messaging, a cornerstone of communication technology throughout the Middle East, is now providing a major benefit to businesses across the GCC, thanks to a new innovation from Tejari, the Middle East's online marketplace.

Tejari is using SMS messages to provide relevant alerts to customers free of charge, while keeping supply trading partners updated with information on the specific industries, auctions, and tenders in which they are interested. The service is customizable, allowing Tejari members to tailor the messages they receive according to their business needs and interests.

"Since the trial of Tejari's SMS service in mid-2004, we have sent informative and useful messages to a growing base of our customers.  In Tejari's most recent customer satisfaction survey, trading partners ranked the SMS service as the most useful new Tejari service," said Abdullah Salman, marketing manager of Tejari.

As part of the MyTejari portal, Tejari's SMS facility is set to fuel further growth in the Middle East's online procurement market over the coming months, providing a real-time link between executives throughout the region, whether at work or in the office, and the electronic trading hub.

"Tejari's SMS service facilitates my work in marketing," says Rana Karameh, a marketing executive with Xerox. "Tejari's text messages highlight the auctions that affect our specific procurement needs, and allow me to keep informed about new trading opportunities even when I am away from the office. With Tejari's SMS service, it's like being online all of the time, and I can keep informed of the tenders and requests for quotations involving Xerox products."

- "Tejari's SMS alerts save time - providing an immediate response to online auctions - and we appreciate the bespoke service element that fits our business needs. Here in the UAE, subscribers are constantly being flooded with SMS messages, but Tejari's texts are distinguished by the focused, relevant information they provide," said Hamid Tamimi, a business development executive with Omnix. "Our team is greatly benefiting from the SMS links received, and we will continue to use the service along with the affirmative merits envisaged."

- "The UAE's healthcare industry is growing rapidly, and we have developed some significant new customer relationships through Tejari," said Mohammed Yasser, commercial manager, Gulf Medical Commercial.  "The SMS alert system keeps me continuously informed about the opening and closing dates of new auctions so that we can further increase our market reach by bidding on these deals."

Enhancements to the MyTejari portal will be among the service upgrades showcased by Tejari during the upcoming GITEX 2005 exhibition taking place in September.
