Renderings of Masjid location and logistics revealed
Dubai, UAE; 12 September 2013: The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre Authority ('DMCC'), the Government Authority dedicated to establishing Dubai as the global gateway for commodity trade and licensing authority for the DMCC business community, revealed today the location and initial renderings of the upcoming Masjid Uthman Ibn 'Affan (Dhun-Nurayn).
The site for the much-anticipated community Masjid has been confirmed as Cluster M2 in JLT, located on the Southern (Jebel Ali) side of the development. In addition to the Masjid, further large scale parking and landscaping will be constructed on part of Lake A and some adjacent land.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC, said:
"Today there are over 75,000 people working and living in JLT, the community Masjid has been driven by strong demand and is very much overdue. We are pleased to confirm the exact location of the Masjid in Cluster M 2 and will be proceeding with the design and construction of the Masjid in the coming weeks."
Inspired by Ummayed/Andalusian architecture, Masjid Uthman Ibn 'Affan (Dhun-Nurayn) will accommodate over one thousand worshippers, including an upper level prayer area that will cater for over 300 women. Furthermore, the Masjid will be constructed with the latest best practices for green building and sustainability standards as well as maximum space efficiency, such as minimal use of columns, in mind.
His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of Awqaf and Minor Affairs Foundation said: "We are honoured to join hands with DMCC to help realise a project that will contribute to meeting the spiritual aspirations of the JLT community. Mr Ahmed Bin Sulayem's monetary support comes at a time when the design stage for the new mosque has been completed and the project is ready for fruition. We anticipate the process of construction to take 14-18 months, depending on further collection of funds and endowment, following which the mosque will open doors to its capacity of 1,000 worshippers. We are confident DMCC's noble initiative in corporate social responsibility will inspire other organisations to take the lead in similar community projects".
DMCC, the fastest growing and the largest Free Zone in the UAE with over 7,200 companies, continues to expand its mixed-use Free Zone and freehold community. There are currently 65 mixed-use commercial and residential towers and over 220 retail outlets in operation within Dubai's most popular community Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
