Abu Dhabi: Singularity University (SU), a global community with a mission to educate, inspire, and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to address humanity's grand challenges, has established a new Chapter in Abu Dhabi. SingularityU Chapters are created in partnership with local program participants and SU alumni, and are located in some of the most innovative and upcoming global technology centers in the world. To date, there are 172 SingularityU Chapters in 72 countries.

SingularityU Abu Dhabi Chapter brings together an active global team of entrepreneurs, industry leaders and mentors, who have all joined together to build a thriving entrepreneurial eco-system and support growing startups in Abu Dhabi’s vibrant community. By hosting events, workshops, and providing the optimal space and environment for ideas to grow, the Chapter aims to accelerate the growth of innovative startups and help creative individuals achieve their full potential, in alignment with the city’s vision to nurture a knowledge-based economy.

“As our regional leadership teams build local communities in support of the development of exponential technologies, the ability for meaningful global and local impact grows,” said Dharmishta Rood, Managing Director of Community. “Our new chapter in Abu Dhabi marks another milestone in the scale and scope of our Singularity University community.”

SingularityU Chapters are central to enabling local regions to jump-start innovation through the curation of events featuring local experts, sponsorship of SU Global Impact Challenges (GICs), and other initiatives at the local level. Since launching the first program in 2015, SingularityU Chapters have hosted a number of unique events focused on applying exponential technologies to create impact. In 2018 SingularityU Chapters launched 405 events, involving more than 56,000 attendees.

SU focuses on positively impacting the world’s greatest challenges through the use of exponential technologies - those which are rapidly accelerating and shaping major industries and all aspects of our lives, including artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), data science, digital biology, medicine, nanotech and digital fabrication, networks and computing systems, robotics, and fintech.

“Abu Dhabi is an emerging center of innovation and the focus of our new chapter will be fostering tech for good within our community,” said Anas Zeineddine, Chapter leadership team member. “We are launching SingularityU Abu Dhabi Chapter to help expand the reach and impact of technology in our region and will be working with the program participants in Abu Dhabi to build the Chapter’s leadership team to partner with local business and academia to host local events.”

Singularity University’s mission is to create a global community of action. SingularityU Chapter events are designed in the spirit of Singularity University’s mission, yet powered by local leadership teams, who are at the forefront of driving ideas, impact and change using exponential technologies to address humanity’s grand challenges in their home communities.

Joining together team members who have worked previously across different countries to harbor entrepreneurship and drive impact, the Abu Dhabi Chapter aims to foster a culture of innovation within Abu Dhabi through organizing events and workshops to help nurture a startup ecosystem and support entrepreneurs in achieving their full potential by connecting them with leaders and global industry experts.
