Sharjah - The Sharjah Architecture Triennial inaugural Board meeting was held on November 6th, 2017 at Sharjah Urban Planning Headquarter. Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah Architecture Triennial chairman, hosted board members: Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah Art Foundation, Engineer Khalid Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Directorate of Town Planning and Survey, Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO, Bee’ah, and Architect George Katodrytis, Head of the Department of Architecture, College of Architecture Art and Design, American University of Sharjah. Also present were Architect Mona El Mousfy, SAT advisor, Eng. Khalid Al Ali Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC) Secretary General, and Gina Allaf, SUPC Marketing Manager.

The board members were first presented with the program’s vision, goals, activities and structure. The session was followed with an overview of potential Triennial Sites, and the examination of international architecture Biennials/Triennials’ development.

The meeting concluded with lively discussions on upcoming pre-launch events. Key players in the architecture and urban field, the board members are eager to advance SAT’s mission and goals.

Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, commented on the meeting: “The success and sustainability of SAT comes from the community it builds around itself and the relationships it establishes with public and private sector partners; the inaugural board meeting was a first step in this direction.” “This is an exciting time in the development of Sharjah and this programme,” Al Qasimi added.

Presently it is the flow of ideas that make city flourish; SAT intends to contribute to this flow within Sharjah and the region.
