The 12-week course is designed to offer students a comprehensive introduction in to the worlds of Graphic Design and Visual Communication and promises to equip graduates with the professional skills needed to create their own publications for print.  The course classes will take place on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.

SAE's Graphic Design Short Course gives students an overview of the complete professional Graphic Design production process and includes the following essentials:

  • development of visual concepts and communication strategies

  • project planning and pitching

  • design implementation in professional graphic software

  • pre-press

  • quality control

  • successful presentation of the final product

As this course is focused on practical skills transfer, students will have the chance to develop their own Graphic Design portfolio which may be useful for future full-time design course applications or when seeking employment.

The 3-month Graphic Design Short Course is intended for those who enjoy experimenting with visual editing tools for graphics, photographs or layouts and for those who want to start a career as a Graphic Designer or Art Director in the advertising world. The program does not require prior experience nor is personal equipment needed for the course

Subjects covered in the Graphic Design Short Course include: Design principles, typography, color theory, visual concepts, communication strategies, professional skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, pre-press, design of symbols and logos, business cards, letterheads, advertisements, brochures, CD covers, posters and labels, project management.
