Doha, 09 February 2013: Qatargas has announced its sponsorship of the Qatar Total Open 2013, organised by the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) during 11-17 February 2013 at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha.

The sponsorship is part of the Qatargas' corporate social responsibility programme that provides support for various sports and cultural activities that take place in the country.

On the company's support to the event, Mr. Ghanim Al-Kuwari, Chief Operating Officer - Administration, Qatargas said:

"Promoting and supporting local sports activities is one of the major elements of Qatargas' Corporate Social Responsibility programme and we are glad to be part of such a prestigious championship. Qatargas has partnered with Qatar Tennis Federation during many major events over the past years and we are very proud to have been associated with the QTF in raising popularity of the game in the country."

Commenting on Qatargas sponsorship of the tournament, Mr. Nasser Ghanim Al Khelaifi, President - Qatar Tennis Federation, said:

First held in 2001, the Qatar Ladies Open was the first professional women's tennis tournament staged in the Middle East and today it is a WTA Premier 5 event - bringing with it the greatest names in the sport.
