Expo 2020 fuels Dubai’s construction sector with US$209 billion worth of projects in the pipeline
Dubai, UAE – Akkawi Engineering Consulting (AEC), a leading UAE-based MEP specialist consultancy, announced today that it was named among the MEP Middle East Top 20 Consultants 2018 Power List, for the second consecutive year.
The GCC's construction market currently has nearly 22,000 active projects worth US$2.4 trillion, according to the latest figures BNC Network. The UAE has contributed strong growth in this sector, largely driven by infrastructure demand for Expo 2020. In Dubai alone, projects totalling US$16.3 billion (Dh59.8 billion) are at the tender stage; US$111.1 billion worth of projects are in construction phase; US$43 billion worth in design and a further US$38.6 billion worth of projects are at concept level, according to same report.

Headquartered in Dubai, AEC marks 11 years of operations in the UAE. During that time, it has completed more than 90 projects, spanning various countries across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, including the Republic of Rwanda, Republic of Djibouti in Africa, Iraq, KSA, UAE and Jordan.
Abu Dhabi and Dubai remain key markets for AEC. It has completed several big projects in the capital, such as the Leaf Towers on Reem Island, Saraya Commercial Buildings (Two Towers), and many others.
In addition, the company successfully completed a mega four-hotel project, ‘Saraya Al Aqaba’ in Al Aqaba Jordan.
