• All-new Nissan LEAF named ‘Best Future Driving Initiative’ for 2018
  • Nissan Patrol chosen as best-in-class for the ‘Large SUV’ category
  • Nissan Saudi Arabia awarded ‘Best Motorsports Program’

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia– Nissan Saudi Arabia took home a spread of wins at the PR Arabia Awards 2018, with some of the global automakers’ latest and most popular models prized, including the Nissan LEAF and Nissan Patrol.

The prestigious event rewards leaders in the Kingdom’s thriving automotive sector, and is the first car award ceremony in Saudi Arabia to give car enthusiasts and members of the public the chance to vote for their favourite vehicles. Awards were distributed by President of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Faisal, during a ceremony at the Jeddah Hilton.

The all-new, all-electric Nissan LEAF was named ‘Best Future Driving Initiative’ under  Car Innovation, adding to a string of international and global awards to have been received by the second edition of the car since its launch in 2017. The award highlights cars with the most innovative technologies, with the Nissan LEAF being selected for its blend of semi-autonomous features and improved battery capacity that allows users to travel more than 150 miles on a single charge.

Meanwhile, the Nissan Patrol was chosen as best-in-class for the ‘Large SUV’ category. A regional favourite that comfortably delivers on-road performance and distinct off-road capabilities alike, the Nissan Patrol was acknowledged for its safety, durability and reliability.

Nissan also received the ‘Best Motorsports Program’ award, in recognition of its strong presence throughout the past years in the Kingdom, especially at the main top fronts; Rally and Drifting, coupled with a commitment to customer care, including increased omnichannel and digital services.

Nissan Saudi Arabia made global headlines earlier this year with the launch of its #SheDrives campaign, which engaged with women from across the Saudi society as they geared up towards obtaining driving licenses in June.

In addition, the global automaker recently bolstered its presence in Saudi Arabia with the official opening of its Jeddah office, catering to some 60 members of staff across different departments and divisions.

Bader Al Houssami, Chief Operating Officer of Nissan Saudi Arabia, said: “PR Arabia Auto Awards is one of the most prestigious events in the Saudi automotive calendar, and our wide recognition is a major result for Nissan in the country. As one of the earliest manufacturers to set up in the Kingdom, we are proud to be well-established within the community and play a prominent role throughout Saudi society. This is clearly reflected by the awards, with our most-loved models receiving the most votes from the public.”
