National Reference Laboratory, the largest network of laboratories in the Middle East accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), is demonstrating its commitment to increasing knowledge and awareness of high-quality laboratory processes and methodologies among healthcare professionals in the region by leading and participating in key educational events in 2018, including Arab Health and MEDLAB.

Abu Dhabi - National Reference Laboratory (NRL), part of Mubadala Investment Company, will continue its successful delivery of educational seminars for laboratory professionals and other healthcare practitioners at two of the largest upcoming healthcare events in the region – Arab Health and MEDLAB. During MEDLAB, taking place in Dubai from February 5-8, a number of NRL’s laboratory experts will present eight lectures on the development of laboratory services to improve standards of care and patient outcomes in the UAE and regionally. NRL will also lead two workshops: one focused on genetic testing; and, one focused on laboratory accreditation and international quality assurance standards.

“In line with our strategic commitment to bring advanced laboratory testing to the region, with the support of our USA partner LabCorp®, we have invested significantly to further increase our in-country specialized testing capacity by establishing multiple centers of excellence. In this respect, MEDLAB and Arab Health provide excellent forums for our experts to share their scientific knowledge and to increase awareness of the high-quality diagnostic testing now available to patients through NRL laboratories,” said Abdul Hamid Oubeisi, CEO of NRL.

Dr. Basel Altrabulsi, Chief Medical Officer of NRL, commented: “NRL has become the largest network of laboratories in the Middle East accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) because we strongly believe in the importance of accreditation and international standards in medical laboratory services. During 2017, we hosted a successful CAP Inspectors Training Workshop and a number of other educational sessions on a variety of laboratory medicine subjects as part of our mission to educate healthcare professionals and raise awareness. We also contributed to the scientific program of numerous conferences. We look forward to delivering an even more ambitious plan of educational activities in 2018, starting with our Laboratory Accreditation Workshop and our Genetics Workshop at MEDLAB.”
