National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has launched the NBK Geo Alerts service, through which customers can receive location based notifications about offers, discounts and promotions via the NBK Mobile Banking App while shopping. The new service came in line with the bank's commitment to continuously upgrade the NBK Mobile Banking App through providing the top-notch digital solutions to satisfy the customers’ needs.
NBK customers can activate the new service when they download or update the NBK Mobile Banking App, as they will receive notifications for discounts, offers and tailor-made promotions at specific stores on their phones while shopping. The new alerts service is currently available at The Avenues, and Kuwait International Airport (Terminals 1 and 4).
"We are committed to introduce new updates to the NBK Mobile Banking App in line with the needs of our customers, so that, they can enjoy an outstanding banking experience and embrace a full-fledged package of distinguished banking services," stated Hesham Al Nusif, Deputy General Manager of Consumer Banking Group, National Bank of Kuwait.
“The NBK Geo Alerts is a location based notification service and one of the advanced enhancements added to the app. The NBK Rewards Program is Kuwait's largest loyalty program with a network of 900 partner outlets across Kuwait, so, we seek to get our customers aware of the latest promotions and offers through the new significant notifications service," Al Nusif noted.
"We are maintaining our well-established position as a provider of the most disruptive digital banking services as well as payment solutions, backed by our digital transformation strategy, which ensures clients, get the most innovative services, and accordingly, a total of 17 new services have been added to the NBK Mobile Banking App throughout 2019” Al Nusif concluded.
The new services introduced to the NBK Mobile Banking App throughout 2019 included applying for a loan or a credit card, increasing your credit card limit, open a new account or a term deposit on the spot, Smartwatches enhancements, activate your dormant account without visiting the branch, investment transfers, establishing standing orders, dark mode feature and geo alert service. In addition to using the cardless withdrawal feature on ATM machines through Mobile Banking.
The new enhancements also included integrating WhatsApp with NBK Quick Pay to receive payments around the clock. Customers can accept money transfers instantly from NBK customers or non-NBK customers holding debit cards, as they will receive the transfer request as a link via SMS, email or WhatsApp.
In addition to these features, NBK Mobile Banking allows customers to manage their cards while travelling, increase their monthly transfer limit, contact the bank call center on the toll free number, and update their contact details via receiving the one-time password (OTP).
Steps to activate the NBK Geo Alerts service on the NBK Mobile Banking App
- Download or update the "NBK Mobile Banking App" to activate the service;
- Once you update the NBK Mobile Banking App, a notification message will appear, tap on “Accept” to activate NBK Geo Alerts;
- If you have previously declined this service, you can still manage it by going to NBK Mobile Banking App settings and selecting “NBK Geo Alerts”;
- The first time you log in after updating the NBK Mobile Banking App, a pop-up message will be displayed promoting “NBK Geo Alerts” asking you to allow the App to access the location. Tap on “Accept”;
- A pop-up message will ask your permission to use your device’s Bluetooth. Tap on “ Accept”
- A pop-up message will be displayed asking for access to your location after subscribing to this service even when you are not using the App. Tap on “Always Allow”;
- In order to get the notifications, make sure you enable Bluetooth and WiFi;
- You will start receiving notifications once you are close to one of the participating outlets.
