Cairo, Egypt: Today, in the presence of their Excellencies, the Prime Minister of Egypt, Ahmed Nazif; the Minister of Trade and Industry, Rachid Mohamed Rachid; the Minister of Agriculture, Amin Abaza; the Minister of Local Development, Abdelsalam Mahgoub; and the Governor of Qalioubaya, Adly Hussein , Makro Egypt launched its second wholesale store. Located in Qalioubayia, the store will help meet the needs of the companies growing customer base, which has been expanding since the launch of Makro's first store in Salam City two months ago.
Elaborating on the launch of the Qalioubayia store, HE Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid said "Egypt is considered a prime investment market not only in the MENA region, but in fact more and more on the international level as well. Our retail market is one of the largest in the region and the potential for growth is still exponential, investors are recognizing this."
Adding to HE Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid's comments, the Governor of Qalioubaya Adly Hussein said "We expect the opening of the Qalioubaya store to be an extremely positive step forward for this local community. The store has already been a source of employment to our local residents and will significantly help in supporting the business development of the professional customers of Qalioubaya."
Commenting on the Qalioubayia store, Makro's Regional Operating Officer for the Middle East North Africa (MENA) Region, Mr. Jean-Luc Tuzes said "Our second store opening is a testament to the strong demand we have already experience in the few short months since we launched in Salam City. Our self-service wholesale business is changing the way businesses view the retail market, and we are both excited and proud to be a driving force in the development and expansion of such a crucial market to the Egyptian economy. The store which spans nearly 10 000 square meters will offer exclusive access to business professionals, housing over 20,000 food and non food products all under one roof. As with their Salam City store, the Qalioubayia store will sell in bulk exclusively tailor their services to the needs of a diverse customer base covering traders, hospitality professionals and business companies.
Elaborating on the many benefits that Makro's store will offer to business professionals, Francois Oliver, Managing Director, Makro Egypt said "For the first time, business professionals will be able to access all of their core needs under one roof. By opening in Qalioubayia, we are expanding are geographical presence within Egypt and therefore providing greater access to the broad professional customer base that we are working to cater to. With more than 20 stores expected to open in the long term, Makro will eventually be located in governorates and cities across throughout the country.
