Digital leader unveils new monitors in the region
Dubai, October 5, 2004 -Global and regional digital leader, LG Electronics launched its flagship 42-inch inch LCD monitor, a range of multifunction monitors and a tablet monitor in the Middle East today.
LG's 42-inch LCD MNT monitor, the world's largest LCD monitor, is equipped with a wide XGA large screen and flexible input ports. This model enables wide viewing angles, thanks to the adoption of the S-IPS technology that allow viewers see still or moving images at any vertical or horizontal angle without any loss in picture quality. The brightness of the LCD MNT model is 600 cd/m2, and the contrast ratio is 600:1; it can support a variety of features for multimedia use like PIP/POP, SRS WOW, 3D Combfilter etc. The maximum resolution is 1366x768 WXGA and is ideal for public displays.
"The demand for liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors is growing exponentially in the Middle East. Industry analysts credit LCD monitors' improved performance and sharper brightness and contrast levels as the key reasons for their strong performance. According to IDC reports, in the Middle East, LCD monitors passed a watershed stage in February 2003, when sales surpassed those of traditional CRT monitors that previously dominated the market," said P C Choi, President, LG Electronics Gulf FZE.
The safety aspect of LCD monitors is also a huge attraction for consumers as these monitors, unlike CRT monitors, emit no radiation and therefore pose no health risks. Many distributors and systems integrators are now bundling LCD monitors with their branded and non-branded PCs.
"LG can develop a wide range of LCD screens because it is the world's largest producer of LCD panels. The company's strategy for monitors is to have the widest range across a number of screen sizes of any brand in the market. Our range gives customers the chance to choose a monitor they need, depending on what exactly they want the screen to achieve," said Choi.
Also on display at Gitex 2004 is LG's award winning 23 inch L2320A monitor. Winner of the prestigious IF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award, the L2320A screen features a media-centre that allows numerous inputs to be connected to the screen via a single cable.
Two stunning wide screen display monitors, models L3000H and L3020A, which give every kind of user enough screen real estate for every kind of operation, boosts LG's 30-inch range. The duo of high brightness (550 cd/m2) TFT-LCD monitors are wall mountable, come with remote controlled AV functions, picture-in-picture and 1280 x 768 WXGA resolution.
"The LG LCD monitor range has such depth and functionality that everyone will be able to find a screen that exactly fits their requirements," added Choi.
The company has also launched its stylistic LG tablet LCD monitor equipped with an electromagnetic digitizer that makes it possible to write directly on the screen with an accompanying digital pen. The tablet monitor incorporates all the functions of a desktop PC; data inputted on to the monitor is automatically stored in the PC, giving customers complete flexibility. The LG tablet can recognise sensitive inputs and parametres, like colour can be controlled by the pressure input on the electronic pen. Ergonomically designed, the tablet monitor has dual interface, true colour support, and auto image scaling capabilities.
"The new tablet monitor illustrates our commitment to delivering products that bring true mobility to customers. Its unique features allows it to be used as either a slimmed-down desktop or a portable PC, according to the needs of the user," said Choi.
All LG LCD monitors meet low emission compliance standards are PC and Mac compatible.
