Sixth edition of region's premier event features specialized wood machinery companies and highlights latest technologies

The Middle East region's growing demand for effective and reliable wood working machinery is one of the main focus for this year's edition of 'Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show', the regional landmark event for wood trade and investment, which opened yesterday (April 5, 2011) at the Dubai Airport Expo and will run until April 7, 2011. 'Dubai WoodShow' will be showcasing the latest range of modern, state-of-the-art wood working machinery worth millions of dirham to leverage the region's increasing demand for wood working machinery used in the production of high grade wood products.

The event, which highlights the products and services of over 200 exhibitors coming from 40 different countries, will feature wood working machinery offering computer numerical control (CNC) and edge banding technologies. CNC machines can be programmed with the use of an advanced design software that allows the manufacture of products that cannot be made by manual machines. The use of this new technology plays a vital role in the region's construction sector. Participating companies like HOMAG, SCM, BIESSE Wood Division have successfully implemented and applied CNC technology into their line of machinery and are now looking to meet new contacts and build on existing relationships in the region.

"The Middle East region is currently showing an increased demand for sound and effective wood working machinery that can help manufacture world class high grade wood products," said Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, organizer of the show. "Our aim is to provide the much needed platform in helping this year's wood machinery exhibitors meet new contacts and create key opportunities. 'Dubai WoodShow' also aims at increasing awareness on the significance of using new technologies and the benefits and advantages that go with it."

This year's edition of 'Dubai WoodShow', which is spread out across 10,000 square meters of exhibition space features six international pavilions - the Malaysian pavilion; American pavilion; French pavilion; German pavilion; Canadian pavilion and the Chinese pavilion. The event is looking to attract more participation and visitors by offering an activity filled program of activities that include presentations, lectures, workshops and parallel events like expanded program offerings and improved matchmaking meetings. The event will also feature four professional speakers coming from various segments of the wood industry to talk about key topics like design trends and sustainability. 'Dubai WoodShow' is supported by leading trade organizations and associations like the EUMABOIS Wood Working Technology, American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), the Engineered Wood Products Association (EWPA), Lunjiao Woodworking Machinery Association, QUEBEC WOOD EXPORT BUREAU (QWEB), Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Association (TWMA), Contractors Association, VDMA, AHK, the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID), ATIBT, ACIMALL, CNFMA, AFEMMA and the Qingdao Wood Working Machinery Association.

"We are overwhelmed with the positive response that we have received during the first day of the event; giving us the confidence to look forward to our largest crowd ever and a sizable value of closed deals. 'Dubai WoodShow' remains fully committed to living up to its reputation of addressing the specific needs of the region's wood industry and to help create the ultimate business experience for wood industry professionals in the region," said Al Shezawi.
