Last Floor Productions (LFP), an Arab start-up production company, has managed to bring Arab-led film, television, and digital projects to the forefront of the global media industry, by creating innovative regional television drama series such as “Fixer” and “Al Shaq” and partnering with Apple in India and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to produce films for the Jameel Prize. Founded by three young artists and entrepreneurs, LFP believes in the rising talent coming out of the UAE and Saudi Arabia and its creative scene, especially in film and TV, and hence identifies opportunities from the Gulf to take Arab cinema worldwide.
The production startup was founded in 2019 with the focus on the creation of compelling, character-driven genre fiction. The founders needed to make sure that their company would have a purpose; enabling stories from the region and those about its people, wherever they may be in the world, to flourish. Accordingly, they have created LFP to be the home of script writers, producers, musicians and filmmakers. With LFP’s focus on TV and film, the team is currently identifying and recruiting local talent, through reaching out to partners including academic institutions and other production companies and broadcasters in the UAE and investing in the up-and-coming talents.
Last Floor Productions’ genesis was from a desire to have stories from and about the Arabs and Arab world that are compelling to a new generation of viewers inside and outside the region, who have come to expect innovative and ambitions productions. They not only produce films and television, but place emphasis on intellectual property creation through the value placed on high-quality screenwriting.
The works of LFP allow viewers to explore a wide spectrum of social, cultural and personal issues that are often only treated through the lens niche high-brow cinema or mass-market soaps, leaving an enormous market gap for quality, accessible entertainment. With this approach, the team at LFP is always on the lookout for new opportunities to take Arab culture worldwide, with the aim of training and hiring young talent that has similar goals and aspirations.
Last Floor Productions (LFP) is an Arab-founded production company, which serves the Middle East and North African region along with the global markets through its presence in London. LFP brings Arab-led film, television, and digital projects to the forefront of the global media industry. It enables stories from the region and those about its people, wherever they may be, to flourish.
With experience that spans writing, composing, strategizing, producing and creating, Last Floor Productions focuses on the creation of compelling, character-driven genre fiction, which is an underserved and growing area of the industry, both creatively and strategically.
Through the production and release of “Fixer” and “Al Shak”, and the development of half a dozen new projects, LFP has partnered with prominent names in the industry including Shahid. The team has also produced 6 short films for the launch of Apple in India and is working with the V&A Museum in London to create films for the Jameel Prize.
