KINZ makes history as first Jordanian company to roll out an Android mobile application
Amman, 12 September 2011 - Leading corporate data provider and Arabia Group member, KINZ, announced launching on Friday 12th August, 2011, a mobile-friendly version of its popular online corporate directory database, making it the first Jordanian company to launch a mobile application on Google's Android operating system (OS). The KINZ mobile application places the contact details, key information and locations of over 30,000 local and international top brands, businesses and professionals in Jordan from across all economic sectors at the fingertips of its users.
"We are very proud of this accomplishment, which we hope will be one of many 'firsts' to come for KINZ," stated Marwan Juma, KINZ Co-Founder and Executive Chairman. He went on to add that the business directory application is currently available on the Google market, and by the end of September, KINZ's directory application will be available on Apple's iPhone as well as Nokia and Blackberry handsets. Today, the Android OS powers Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and Motorola phones among others, making the application compatible with a wide range of handsets.
KINZ app users can directly call retrieved contacts (or records), add them to their contact list and directly SMS the data to their friends and other contacts. Users can also find routes to - or locate - the retrieved record on a map that features famous city landmarks in the record's vicinity for easy navigation. "While the route finder is in itself a great tool, we went a step further and added 2,000 well-known Amman landmarks to our database, thus enabling users to easily find their destinations," Juma explained.
Users can also use the social media tools incorporated in the KINZ mobile app to rate and review any business and have their comments automatically integrated with their Facebook or Twitter - and soon Google+ - accounts. This, Juma said, will cause consumer choices to be driven by ratings and reviews, forcing businesses to focus on the quality of offered services at all times.
Phones operating on Google's Android OS have reached a daily activation rate of almost 550,000 and, along with Apple's iPhone, are expected to dominate the smartphone market for years to come. In Jordan, and according to Arab Advisors' recent study, the smartphone penetration rate has reached 40%.
