Doha: Today Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) officially opened its Sealine Medical Clinic, located in the Sealine area. This is the eighth consecutive year that the healthcare organization has operated the clinic, which began receiving patients last weekend.

The ceremony to officially open the clinic was attended by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Khater, Chief Communications Officer at HMC and Chair of the Healthcare Communications Committee, and Mr. Saleh Hasan Al Kuwari, Director of the Natural Reserve Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment. A number of senior leaders and administrators from HMC attended the event.

Mr. Al Khater, who is also Project Manager for the Sealine Medical Center, said HMC operates the clinic in the Sealine area each year to ensure medical services, and specifically emergency medical services, are available for residents during the busy camping season.

“The clinic is located very close to the seashore, on the same site where it has been located during the last three years. We choose a location that is close to popular camping areas to facilitate easier access should healthcare services be required by residents or visitors. Our annual operation of this clinic reinforces our commitment to providing the best possible healthcare to campers in the Sealine, Khor Al Adaid (Inland Sea), and surrounding areas,” said Mr. Al Khater.

Mr. Al Khater urged campers and others who frequent the area to respect safety and security procedures and to take the necessary precautions when enjoying recreational activities. He also thanked the medical team, and specifically the Ambulance Service and administrators of the Sealine Medical Clinic, for their dedication to caring for patients.

Dr. Hamid Ghareeb, Consultant at HMC’s Medical Administration Department and Medical Supervisor of the Sealine Medical Clinic, said the clinic will operate every weekend during the camping season, opening each Thursday at 3pm and remaining open until Saturday at 5pm. He said services will be available until the end of April when the camping season closes.

The clinic, which will also provide services during public holidays, will receive patients with minor health concerns, as well as emergency cases. Dr. Ghareeb added that the Sealine Medical Clinic is supported by HMC’s Ambulance Service, providing campers with round-the-clock access to a team of paramedics and well-equipped ambulance vehicles. The clinic also features a helicopter landing area to transfer patients from the beach to the clinic, and to transfer acute cases to hospital.

Mr. Saleh Nasser Al Mejareh Al Marri, Operations Manager for HMC’s Ambulance Service, said in addition to its regular round-the-clock emergency coverage in the Sealine area, the Ambulance Service has added two ambulances and two 4x4 emergency vehicles which will be permanently stationed in the area. He said the Ambulance Service is ready to transport emergency cases from the sand dune area to the clinic or to the helicopter landing area, as required. During public holidays and weekends, the number of ambulances onsite will be increased to six and the number of 4x4 emergency vehicles will be increased to four.
