Foton is China's leading commercial vehicle manufacturer

Foton has close ties with Cummins, Isuzu and Daimler

Foton offersassured reliability and the lowest cost of ownership for fleet buyers

Muscat, December 16, 2012: The Zubair Automotive Group launched the Foton brand of commercial vehicles into Oman for the first time. Foton, a manufacturer light and heavy-duty trucks, pick-ups, and buses, is ranked as the fourth most valuable brand in china's automotive sector and has close ties and partnerships with various renowned global brands such as Cummins and Daimler.

Making the announcement, Mohamed Hubais, General Manager, said "Foton is one of the largest and fastest growing automotive enterprises in China. Their state-of-the-are R&D centres coupled with rigorous quality control systems ensure that their vehicles are well above global quality and reliability standards." He added "Fleet operators in Oman are pleased to learn that Foton vehicles offer assured reliability and the lowest total cost of ownership in the Sultanate. As the leading Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer, Foton will significantly enhance the existing commercial offerings from the Zubair Automotive Group."

As the latest addition to the Zubair Automotive Group's commercial vehicle line-up, Foton will start its sales with four of their leading models - the Tunland pick-up, the View C passenger van and the Aumark and Auman light and medium commercial trucks.

Leading the Foton line-up, the Tunland is a ruggedly high-end pickup developed for a worldwide audience. Built to outperform the competition with the Cummins ISF 4-cyclinder 2.8 litre turbo-diesel engine under its bonnet, the Tunland is one of the most powerful vehicles in its class. With high torque and power for its size and weight, the light-duty ISF diesel engine is ideal for weight sensitive and size constrained applications. Available in 2x4 or 4x4 variants, it was designed to severe road conditions and a harsh operating environment, making it a perfect candidate for heavy-duty work in Oman.

Adopting advanced engine technologies licensed from Isuzu, the Foton View C passenger van is powered by a 2.2L in-line four cylinder engine. This is matched by a high performance transmission with an efficiency of more than 96%. In addition, the Foton View C is fully equipped with power steering, central control power door locks, and air-con for the front and rear passenger and a maximum carrying capacity of 15 people. If required, the View C is also available in a cargo van model with blind windows.

Aumark is the most technologically advanced light-duty truck offered by Foton. It was developed in cooperation with overseas partners like Lotus and Cummins. Lighter than 3 tons and equipped with a Cummins Engine, ZF Transmission and Dana Axle, the Aumark is designed to work in any kind of environment and deliver reliable performance day after day. It was oriented on the high-end light truck market since its launch and has become a representative product for the brand.

The Auman VT series relies on the power and reliability of Cummins engines and Mercedes-Benz chassis. This model is made to resist the most extreme temperatures and operate in hostile environments, while the strong chassis and resistant components keep maintenance costs to a minimum. The design and technology of the vehicle have been engineered to minimize fuel consumption. Auman VT features reinforced European-style cabin, a sedan-style interior, luxury sleepers, comfortable seating, noise and heat reduction systems, and a WEVB system. These all provide comfortable and safe working conditions for the operator.

All Foton vehicles are built to GCC standards and are more than capable of handling the harshest of working environments with ease.  The global quality standards and high-reliability perfectly meet the needs of the Omani market.
