Sharjah: The Board of Directors of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences (AUIEC), which operates under the umbrella of the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the Arab League, on Sunday has approved the launch of the 1st edition of the Arab Trade Fair in Jordan next November.

This came during the 2021’s first periodic meeting which was held virtually and chaired by his Excellency Saif Muhammad Al-Midfa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences, a member of the Sharjah Consultative Council, and CEO of the Expo Center Sharjah, in the presence of the board members.

The meeting has also approved the membership of both Sudan and Mauritania in the Union and reviewed the trial version of the Arab exhibitions and conferences magazine, which the Union intends to publish as a first specialized magazine that will cover and promote the Arab fairs at global levels.

On the sidelines of the meeting, His Excellency Mahmoud Youssef Al-Jarrah was reelected for a new term as a Secretary-General of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences.

“Launching the 1st edition of the Arab Trade Fair is a significant step forward towards scaling up the exhibitions and conferences in the Arab countries. The step also underlines the Union’s role in bolstering the national economy, elevating export capabilities by promoting Arab products in world markets, boosting the volume of Arab trade exchange, highlighting investment and business opportunities in the Middle East, and opening new markets for the products and goods of union members,” said Saif Muhammad Al-Midfa.

Welcoming the joining of Sudan and Mauritania to the membership of the Union, Al-Midfa called on the union members to visit the Expo Dubai 2020 website and check out the best practices and the ongoing preparations for launching this event in October 2021.

Mahmoud Youssef Al-Jarrah pointed out that Arab exhibitions and conferences magazine marks the first output of the Union’s 2021 plan, which aims primarily to uplift the exhibitions industry in the Arab countries and providing its cadres with the best relevant regional and international practices.
