Amman – Jordan: On June 4th, TEDinArabic initiative is hosting its second event in a series of regional events leading up to its flagship program in Doha, Qatar in 2023. Held in Amman, the event, entitled “Unlocking Potential, Elevating Stories” will feature renowned past TED speakers who will give their talks to a global audience in Arabic. TEDinArabic aims to provide a global platform for thinkers, artists, and innovators across the Arabic-speaking world to share ideas to affect change and shape our shared future.

The event will be held in the presence of a number of dignitaries, most notably Her Excellency Sheikha Hind Bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairman and CEO of Qatar Foundation, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah. Speakers will have the opportunity to share their ideas with a broad global audience - all in Arabic. Driven by its mission, TED believes in the importance of empowering and spreading ideas.

Held at Al Hussein Technical University, the daylong event will also feature a series of interactive workshops and a performance by a local choir. 

The TEDinArabic session in Amman will feature:  Emtithal “Emi” Mahmoud, a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador, she has dedicated her career  to spreading understanding and championing humanitarian causes through poetry and advocacy; Amir Nizar Zuabi,  an Artistic Director who introduced "The Walk,” a theatrical journey following a nine-year-old Syrian refugee girl named Amal (represented by a giant, lifelike puppet) as she makes her journey from Turkey to England; and Sheikha Al Jassassi, the first visually-impaired  Omani woman to obtain a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the prestigious University of Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom. Sheikha has an unwavering determination, ambition, and love of learning that has exceeded everyone’s expectations, and even her own.

TEDinArabic is considered to be the first initiative from TED that focuses on exchanging solutions, stories, and ideas in the Arabic language. In partnership with the non-profit Qatar Foundation, the initiative works on conserving the Arabic language heritage, promoting it, and immortalizing it in the minds of future generations, along with providing an interactive platform for exchanging diverse perspectives and ideas.
