UK Process Engineering company Enpure Ltd, based in the West Midlands has been awarded the design and supply contract to provide a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) and dual media filtration (DMF)  pre-treatment plant capable of treating ~1,040 Ml/d by Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Company Limited, based in Korea.  Doosan are significant players in the Middle East having won a number of projects in the area. Enpure see this award as a major step forward in the application of their Enflo-vite™ DAF technology, and related work they are undertaking in the desalination market place. Enflo-Vite™ is a high-rate DAF system that, in the case of Ras Az Zawr, is designed to operate at ~26 m/h (Net)

This design and supply contract is just part of the overall Ras Az Zawr project, located on the east coast of Saudi Arabia, which Doosan are undertaking on behalf of Saline Water Conversion Corporation of Saudi Arabia.  Once complete this scheme will potentially be the largest seawater desalination plant in the World.

The initial supply programme for the DAF and DMF pretreatment stage includes for the delivery of a bespoke pilot plant and trials of at least 6 months duration that are anticipated to commence mid 2011. The full scale plant is due for completion during 2013.
