Manama, Bahrain - January 23rd, 2010: DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, the unique master-planned city for the people of Bahrain, have supported the 1st Underground Infrastructure Middle East Conference silver sponsorship. The event, which started on 18th January 2010, was held under the patronage of H.E. Fahmi bin Ali Al-Jowder, Minister of Works and Minister In charge of Electricity & Water Authority, at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Bahrain.
The event was particularly pertinent to DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ, due to the importance of transportation infrastructure, and supply and discharge systems such as water and gas networks as the backbone for the functionality of modern cities. As a new city for the Kingdom of Bahrain, DIYAR AL MUHARRAQ the topics discussed at the conference such as sewerage systems, water and gas distribution, district heating and cooling, telecommunication network and power grids will be of crucial importance to the project.

Focusing on sewerage systems, the event covers all managerial aspects of underground infrastructure activities from new installations, utility tunneling, pipes and sewer rehabilitation to human resource development, asset management and standards and regulations.
The 1st Underground Infrastructure Middle East 2010 was organized by the internationally renowned Euro Institute for Information and Technology Transfer in Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Bahrain Society of Engineers and Ministry of Works. The conference provided a platform for regional and international experts to share knowledge and expertise and to remain abreast of the latest technologies in underground services and sustainable infrastructure developments, and is considered the first conference of its kind in Bahrain and the region as a whole.
