First-of-its-kind platform allows files and passwords to be safely stored - and also easily recovered, after an unforeseen event by vault owners or their beneficiaries

Lawyers, accountants, and executor details stored on the platform

End-to-end encryption promises the highest level of security

Hasbox, an online platform offering ‘digital inheritance’ services – the first of its kind in the world – is launching today to change the way important personal multimedia files and information are stored, recovered and shared. The platform is ideal for those seeking to best prepare for emergency situations. By simplifying the storage and recovery process, Hasbox promises to help minimize the stress on individuals or their loved ones following an unforeseen event.  The cutting edge, end-to-end-encrypted technology is used by the company of the same name, founded earlier this year by Stephen Flawith and two business partners.

With a monthly membership, the Hasbox vault allows users to prepare for events beyond their control. Vault owners store important documents and information like details of personal assets, medical records, passport copies, passwords, and precious photos and videos, and organise them in personalied ‘lockers’ for each beneficiary. Nominated ‘key-holders’ – lawyers, accountants, or executors – can then unlock the vault in the event of an emergency and provide beneficiary access, triggering the digital inheritance process. The vault can also be used solely by owners who simply wish to safely secure soft copies of files and personal information.

“We launched Hasbox after each of us went through challenging circumstances where we had to locate the bank accounts, tenancy contracts and materials of others – and had no clue where to start,” said Stephen Flawith, Co-founder. “People accumulate so many documents throughout their lives and they can be easily lost or destroyed; Hasbox empowers them to create their own ‘digital legacy.’

“A simple, user-friendly platform, Hasbox is one multi-faceted tool that stores all multimedia files of great personal value. When faced with a flood, fire, or any other scenario, users will retain access to these important documents and all their passwords, giving them the opportunity to bounce back to normal life more quickly. More importantly, in the event of loss of life, beneficiaries will gain immediate access to their assigned digital vaults, minimising the stress of the ‘inheritance’ process.”

Hasbox members can access and add or remove items from the vault and shuffle items between lockers at any time. Beneficiaries, even with the vault locked, can view the details of the key-holders and contact them during an emergency. The platform can also serve for safe storage of passwords, bank accounts and other important information. With double encryption – first when documents are being transferred via the Internet, and second when they are stored – the Hasbox platform is so secure that even the team behind it cannot access a user’s files or information. It has been tested by over 100 test-users, who have since been converted to customers.

Hasbox members pay a modest fee starting from £1 per month. The service is available to anyone, anywhere in the world. Membership options range from personal to generational, differentiating primarily in storage size, number of vaults and lockers, and the number of key-holders. The platform supports all major file types, including Microsoft Office, image, video, audio, PDF and text.

Co-founder Stephen Flawith is a graphic designer, and a restaurant strategist by profession. He has successfully built 8 corporate start-ups in the food and beverage industry with a focus on brand concepts and marketing. A British National who has lived in the UK and the UAE, his portfolio includes more than 24 operational restaurants spanning across Europe and the Middle East.
