Danube launches a wide range of fire-retardant materials in collaboration with leading European manufacturers
Dubai, October 26, 2006: With the Civil Defence authorities enforcing more stringent fire-safety measures, UAE's construction industry is increasingly opting for advanced fire-retardant materials, generating an increased demand for high quality safety materials.
Danube Building Materials FZCO, a leading player in the construction industry, is capitalising on the situation by launching a comprehensive range of fire-retardant materials (known in the industry as fire-rated solutions) sourced from five leading European manufacturers.
Danube will be unveiling the entire range of fire-retardant solutions at its stand at the Big Five exhibition on October 28. The range includes fire-retardant MDF, chipboard, plywood, boards, door cores, laminates, paints, adhesives and iron mongery, all designed to international standards and approved by Dubai Civil Defence.
"Fire safety in the construction industry is a critical issue, especially with the Civil Defence authorities enforcing the use of fire-retardant materials in key areas, including entrance, staircase area and kitchen," said Rizwan Sajan, Chairman of Danube Building Materials. "Foreseeing the need for international standard fire-rated solutions, Danube has assembled the widest range to meet local demand."
Danube's new unit will cater to contractors and joineries which are required to adhere to stringent fire safety rules. New buildings are designed to provide as much physical protection as possible to occupants during a fire. Fire-rated products help limit the spread of fire within the structure, and reduce the exposure of occupants to fire and its lethal by-products, such as smoke.
"With tie-ups with some of the leading European fire-rated solution providers, Danube has become a one-stop shop for all fire-retardant materials needed by the construction industry," said Sajan. "We anticipate a huge response from the industry when we launch our solutions at the Big Five."
Anticipating increased demand, Danube has opened a dedicated door factory in Dubai, where world-class fire-retardant doors are manufactured in collaboration with Spano of Belgium and Halspan from United Kingdom.
Danube, which runs operations in the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, China and India, has been a major supplier of building materials to the booming construction industry in the UAE and the region.
