Dubai Internet City based Acette Technologies and Australian software engineering firm Exactal will exhibit CostX software at the Structural Engineers World Congress (SEWC) Expo 2007.
The first SEWC, was held in San Francisco in 1998 and second in Yokohama, Japan, in 2002. The prestigious third Congress 2007 and Expo will be held during November 3-7 at Hotel Grand Ashok in Bangalore, which is expected to bring in more than 5000 delegates.
Acette Technologies and Exactal will jointly participate in the SEWC Expo. The Brisbane-based technology firm Exactal specializes in developing and licensing CostX, the state-of-the-art software solutions for estimation, quantity surveying and cost engineering professionals in the construction industry worldwide.
Sujit Sivanand, Deputy Managing Director of Acette, explained that "the launch of CostX in India is timed with the growing demand for automation in the Indian construction industry. The booming construction industry in India is struggling to cope with outdated manual and semi-automated business processes for estimation, tendering and quantity surveying. Even some major players in the construction industry are still dependent on basic spreadsheets for quantity surveying, cost estimation and production of bills of quantity (BoQ). CostX is a solution that can import CAD drawings into its desktop and use these drawings to create dimension groups capable of building up cost structures and produce BoQs".
"Traditionally QS (quantity surveying) was not recognised as a distinct profession in India," Sujit Sivanand further observed. "So, on the academic side too, there were no specialised QS courses at engineering colleges or technical institutes. However, in recent years the National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) commenced their QS diploma course at the Hyderabad campus of its Construction Industry Staff College. Such developments in academics and the influx of international engineering consulting firms into India have helped: The QS profession is now seen as distinct career line within engineering and construction management disciplines. CostX is targeted as the new costing standard for professionals in these segments of the construction industry.
"As planned, CostX application training courses are to be launched in major Indian cities by offering franchises to IT application training institutes. In addition, educational versions of CostX will be made available to selected engineering colleges offering QS courses." Sujit Sivanand added: "Our partnership with Exactal will be one aimed at setting up a network of CostX resellers across various territories in India. We are here with a strong professional commitment that extends from automating QS business processes to providing CostX application training to business users, engineering students and aspiring QS technical hands in the Indian construction industry."
Geoff Hussey, International Channels Manager, at Exactal stated, "We are delighted to extend our successful relationship with Acette into the Indian market. Acette has been a strong advocate of CostX in the Middle Eastern market and we feel confident that the knowledge, experience and dedication that they have shown in that market will transfer well into India. Exactal is committed to establishing a quality distribution network around the world and we see India as a very important step in that plan"
Geoff Hussey, International Channels Manager at Exactal, and Sujit Sivanand, Deputy Managing Director of Acette, will be in India in connection with launch of CostX at the Structural Engineers World Congress Expo 2007 in Bangalore.
