• The company’s new facilities will support its ambitious local growth plans and continued focus on community development

Amman, Jordan:– Avertra, a global software company based out of the United States, recently hosted a special event to unveil its new offices in Amman’s Abdoun neighborhood. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 15, and was attended by the company’s management, employees, and partners, including the Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sameera Al-Zou’bi.

The opening of Avertra’s new facilities in Amman reflects the company’s ongoing prioritization of its operations in the Kingdom. With a total of five global locations, its team in Jordan already accounts for 61 percent of Avertra’s total workforce—and the company has plans to hire another 100 employees by the end of the year.

While its headquarters are located in the US, Avertra’s Amman operations are considered the company’s central hub and its primary research and development center. Avertra’s management team is actively working to raise $30-40 million in capital, half of which will be invested directly in the Kingdom.

Avertra also continues to invest heavily in local communities throughout Jordan, with a focus on creating opportunities for Jordanian youth. In addition to employing a workforce in which 35 percent of its employees are under the age of 25, the company’s Avertra Academy is helping empower the next generation of local leaders. Avertra Academy provides youth from diverse backgrounds with specialized training in software development; in 2022 alone, the academy empowered 35 young Jordanians, who are now employed by global powerhouses like PwC and the United Nations.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sameera Al-Zou’bi, said, “Avertra’s astute decision to further invest in its local operations is a direct and positive reflection of the Kingdom’s incredible value proposition as an ICT investment destination. From the country’s supportive business ecosystem to its exceptional wealth of young local talent, Jordan continues to be a place where companies from around the world are finding unparalleled success and a talented young workforce capable of competing in global markets.”

During her engaging keynote speech, Al-Zou’bi emphasized how the ministry is eager to continue serving as a constant partner in the growth, prosperity, and success of Avertra in Jordan. Through programs like Jordan Source—which operates under the ministry’s Youth, Technology, and Jobs project—the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship works to provide ongoing, wide-reaching support to companies like Avertra.

The CEO of Avertra, Bashir Bseirani, also commented on the occasion, saying, “It is our immense pleasure to inaugurate Avertra’s new facilities in Amman. Our decision to open this new office reflects the company’s much larger and more strategic ambitions for its operations in Jordan. Along with plans to increase our local workforce considerably by 2024, in the coming year, Avertra will place substantial emphasis on expanding its community development commitments, by continuing to empower local youth and support women in tech. In addition to further investing in Avertra Academy and creating new opportunities for Jordanian youth, it is our goal to achieve gender parity across our workforce: with women already representing 47 percent of our local team, we are aiming to increase this proportion to at least 50 percent by the end of 2023.”

The ministry’s Jordan Source program is actively supporting Avertra’s efforts to expand its local operations. As a constant partner to ICT-sector companies in Jordan, Jordan Source offers a wide range of strategic services, from streamlining the process of establishing business operations in the Kingdom to offering attractive grant and incentive packages, to providing logistical assistance in everything from local office set-up to talent acquisition and upskilling.
