Amman: Under the patronage of Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour, H.E. Yousef Al-Shamali, and with the attendance of the Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC) President, Dr. Raghda Al Faouri, Luminus Laval Academy - a TVSDC-accredited institution and the only beauty academy in Jordan with accreditation from the French Ministry of Education ‘Académie de Paris’ - held a graduation ceremony for a new cohort of French professional certificate students at the King Hussein Business Park. The event was attended by French Ministry of Education representative and Académie de Paris Director, Antoine Destrés, as well as Luminus Laval Academy directors, founders, partners from government, local and international entities, faculty members, academic staff and student families.

During the ceremony, H.E. Al-Shamali delivered a speech reiterating the Ministry of Labour's firm commitment to the royal vision of elevating the vocational and technical education and training sector, which is considered a vital pillar of economic development, youth employment and the empowerment and advancement of women’s workforce participation. He expressed the ministry's pride in Luminus Laval Academy as a leading national institution that secures employment for no less than 80 percent of its cosmetology graduates, ensuring they are qualified to work in France, Europe and the local market by granting certificates certified by the French Ministry of Education and delivering accredited curricula and programs. H.E. Al-Shamali also praised the academy’s role in educating and employing women, which contributes to Jordan’s National Employment Strategy and the government's plan to reduce unemployment.

In turn, Destrés recollected the outcomes of the cooperation with Jordan since 2007, including the training of 200 instructors and the accreditation of 17,000 young women and men across 10 construction professions. He also addressed the successful partnership with Luminus Laval Academy, which resulted in it obtaining and periodically renewing the French accreditation since 2016 as part of quality assurance. Moreover, Destrés expressed the common desire to further develop this partnership and promote the exchange of Jordanian and French students in the future.

On this occasion, Luminus Laval Academy Deputy Chairman and Co-Founder, Rana Qubain, stated, “Founding the academy was not merely an idea; we had the vision, science and action necessary to transform a dream into reality. With a keen interest in shaping well-rounded learning outcomes, we forged local and international education and vocational partnerships with School Élisa Lemonnier - the oldest beauty college in Paris since 1862 - Sothys and L’Oréal to equip our students with the tools for success.”

She added, “Using the same forward-thinking, the academy introduced remote and blended learning, enabling us to outreach many students nationwide, as well as in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen and Germany. We are confident that our students will continue to excel in their work, showcase their dedication and apply the knowledge and skills of their professions to advance their workplaces.”

In turn, Luminus Laval Academy General Manager and Co-Founder, Suhair Khoury, commented, “The idea behind establishing the academy per top-standard curricula, academic staff, facilities and teaching methods stemmed from the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II for the labor market and his directives to exert every effort to reduce unemployment and improve vocational training in Jordan.”

She added, “We saw that the cosmetology sector was in dire need of an academy that trains students per global standards and guarantees them work inside and outside Jordan immediately upon graduation. Over the course of six years, we proudly graduated more than 2,500 students - 2,000 of whom are now employed.”

The ceremony concluded with the conferment of the French certificates - including the Baccalauréat Professionnel Certificate (BAC-PRO), the Brevet Professionnel Certificate for Hairstyling, the Professional Skincare Certificate and the Professional Art of Makeup Certificate - to the graduates, with the participation of H.E. Yousef Al-Shamali; Antoine Destrés; Dr. Ayman Maqableh, Dean of Luminus Technical University College; Rana Qubain; and Suhair Khoury. The certificate distribution was followed by a group photo of the students, academic staff and faculty members, as well as a celebration of the graduates.

Luminus Laval Academy curricula and certificates adhere to international standards, qualifying it to successfully renew its accreditation with the French Ministry of Education (GIP-FCIP) from Académie de Paris this year, after fulfilling the requisite global standards and requirements and graduating beauty experts ready to set up their own businesses and projects, at an employment rate of 80 percent.
