Dubai Police Academy partners with City & Guilds

16th December, 2009Dubai, United Arab Emirates-: City & Guilds, the renowned British Institute has teamed up with Dubai Police Academy to offer complete training and educational opportunities to security learners across the UAE. The unprecedented agreement was signed by H.H. Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts association and H.E General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander of the Dubai Police and Mr. Chris Jones, Director General of City & Guilds at the Dubai Police Academy. This partnership will offer learners extensive training courses and grant qualifications in the UAE and internationally. The prestigious ceremony was attended by chief dignitaries and officials including H.E Major General Professor Mohammed Ahmed Bin Fahad, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, H.E Guy Warrington, Mr. Chris Jones, Director General of City & Guilds and Ms. Amanda Kelleher, City & Guilds Hub Manager, Middle East and South Asia. 

"The Dubai Police Academy is keen to develop educational and training programmes through key partnerships with regional and international institutions. The partnership with City & Guilds is beneficial for all involved and we look forward to exchange local specialized knowledge and international experience. The initiative is in line with Dubai Police's visions and aspirations which aims to strengthen the security and stability of society, both, locally and regionally", said Major General Fahad, Director of the Dubai Police Academy.

"The partnership will also initiate a unique educational mandate in the Arab world which will encourage the development of programs and publications with the invaluable support of the City & Guilds Institute. A total of 25 training programmes, courses and workshops including 6 programs dedicated on administrative affairs will be offered locally and regionally. We commend the invaluable support of the Dubai Police and the Police Academy, a key player in strengthening relations and international partnerships", added Lt. Col Mohammed Rafi Ahmed, Director of the Science of Security and Administrative Institute.

City & Guilds has a strong tradition of working in partnership to provide vocational skills provision that ensures that a workforce has the skills that the industry requires. The City & Guilds Institution was founded in 1878 and its board of trustees is chaired by H.R.H, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, the consort of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the second. The Institute received the royal seal in 1900 and has, for over a century, developed comprehensive educational programs throughout the world.
