Chartis today announced two senior leadership appointments within Central Region.
Phil Ashkuri is appointed Head of Consumer Insurance and is responsible for all consumer business within Central Region including Accident & Health, Travel, Auto & Home Insurance portfolios distributed through agents, bancassurance partners, brokers, airlines and travel agents.
Phil joins to Chartis with a wealth of experience having spent over 25 years in the insurance and financial services industry. He joins Chartis from HSBC UAE where he was Head of Insurance, with responsibility for all aspects of Insurance within the UAE for the bank including product supply, distribution strategy, operational fulfillment and ultimately delivery of the P&L.
Prior to this, Phil worked for a number of leading financial institutions in the UK including the Bank of Ireland and Prudential Assurance.
David Cook is appointed Head of Commercial Insurance, responsible for the regions commercial insurances including Property, Energy, Casualty, Marine, Financial Lines and SME portfolios.
David has been with Chartis & AIG since 1996. He has gained a wealth of experience having spent over 25 years in insurance across the broad range of commercial insurances including Liability, Distribution, Risk Management, Crisis Management, Global Energy, and Medical Excess.
He has held a number of senior management roles in the US and overseas, including five years in Japan, taking responsibility for Commercial Lines across Japan & Korea. He moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2010 to manage the Regional Liabilities portfolio and most recently was responsible for Commercial Lines Operations across Central region.
Prior to joining Chartis, David worked for Aetna Casualty & Surety, as well as UniCARE Insurance in the US. David graduated from the San Diego State University with a BA in Political Science & Public Administration.
Both Phil Ashkuri and David Cook are based at the Dubai International Financial Centre, in Chartis' Central regional office.
