Muscat – As part of its commitment to engage in community-focused projects, CC Energy Development (CCED), along with its partners in Blocks 3 & 4, Mitsui E&P Middle East B.V. and Tethys Oil Block 3 & 4 Limited has lent its support to two youth-development organizations, Outward Bound Oman, part of the world’s leading experiential learning organization, and Youth Vision, an Omani youth small and medium enterprise specializing in empowering youth to be involved in the socio-economic development of the Sultanate and its Vision 2040.

Walter Simpson, Managing Director from CCED said, "We believe that the private sector has a vital role to play in empowering the local community, particularly when it comes to young people, who are integral to the future social and economic development of the Sultanate. Our collaboration with Outward Bound Oman and Youth Vision is part of our corporate social responsibility program that is committed to creating long-term value for Oman, positioning the country at the forefront of knowledge-transfer and innovative technology across all sectors. He added, “CCED’s vision is to contribute to building a world-class oil and gas sector in Oman that is dedicated to systematically hiring and developing home-grown talent across all facets of the industry.”

CCED partnered with Outward Bound Oman to support their Outdoor Courses programme, which includes eight tailored courses for young people between the ages of 15 and 25. The programme is geared towards promoting agile, innovative, and creative thinking for Omanis to encourage them to take action as leaders in the future. It also hones their productivity, sense of pride and civic duty, while also promoting a healthy active lifestyle and a positive work culture.

Mark Evans, Executive Director of Outward Bound Oman said, “Our outdoor Courses aim to provide participants with exposure to the key skills needed for them to be active and engaged citizens in realizing the Oman Vision 2040. We also want to instill a spirit of voluntary and community service in these bright minds, while raising their awareness about sustainable approaches to natural environment and cultural heritage. We appreciate our long-standing partnership with CCED and look forward to more activities that will support us in nurturing the growth of tomorrow’s leaders.”

The second partnership saw CCED work closely with Youth Vision to support their Job Seeker Program, which aims to empower young people to take charge of their employment and careers. Through five days of interactive workshops, participants will be introduced to the 21st century skills required to bridge the gap between job seekers and the requirements of the real job market. Youth Vision was established to empower young people in all industries that support the development of the Sultanate.

Maryam Al Amri, Chief Executive Officer of Youth Vision said, “We pride ourselves for being the first Omani SME specialised in social youth entrepreneurship, as we work on designing and providing services and programmes aimed at developing the skills of young people from the age of 14 to 35 years old, as well as creating a youth generation capable of leading the future according to systematic foundations based on knowledge, skill and behaviour. This collaboration with CCED supports our goal to significantly accelerate the skillsets required by those entering the job market, increase their success rate, and in the long term, make them seasoned leaders.”

CCED invests in national talent and entrepreneurs that will build a promising future for Oman. The company is always looking to foster partnerships with organizations that address education and employability requirements of local talent to thrive and contribute to the national economy. CCED has contributed to the Job Security Fund, established by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, which aims to support the local workforce. In another initiative to empower the youth, the company recently partnered with the Ministry of Education and sponsored the production of the book, ‘For the country positive interaction and a sense of responsibility’.
