The conference attracted leading experts and professionals to discuss the importance of building robust IT infrastructure across sectors

Dubai, UAE, 20 April 2017

“Whether you are an individual, technology developer, or adopter of technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT) will stretch the boundaries of today’s systems. Are you prepared for the changes in the way we learn, work, and innovate?” enquired   Dr. Taseer A. Rangrez, DBA, PhD., Chief Executive Officer, KODEKS Technologies.

Dr. Rangrez was speaking during the opening keynote titled, ‘Smart Systems & the Internet of Things’ at the 2017 BICSI Middle East & Africa  (MEA) Conference and Exhibition organized by Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), the non-profit association advancing the information and communications technology (ICT) community.  The BICSI MEA Conference was held on 19th and 20th April at Dubai World Trade Centre, under the theme, ‘Internet of Things—Infrastructures, Data Centers, Wireless and More’.

“The Internet of Things (IoT) brings access to volumes of data capable of improving workplace efficiency, reducing waste, and even saving lives. But companies around the globe need help in making sense of the data, in drilling down to apply its relevance to the worker deployed on the job.  In the Internet of Everything (IoE), “people” will be able to connect to the Internet in countless ways. Today, most people connect to the Internet through their use of devices (such as PCs, tablets, TVs, or smartphones). As the Internet evolves towards IoE, we will be connected in more relevant and valuable ways,” said Dr. Rangrez.

Ali Alomari, General Manager, TAMDEED PROJECTS, said: “The revolution of the internet of things is underway, bringing together people, data and machines to improve our lives in ways we never imagined. At TAMDEED PROJECTS we combine systems, people and processes to deliver on the promise of IoT for exceptional outcomes. The Internet of Things is an ecosystem of ever-increasing complexity; it is the next level of automation of every object in our life and convergence of new technologies will make IoT implementation much easier and faster, which in turn will improve many aspects of our life at home, at work and in between.”

“We take pride in saying that BICSI is global, serving over 23,000 ICT professionals across 100 countries. Major infrastructure projects including Data Centers, Smart City developments, telecom service provider projects in the MEA region today, all call for the application and compliance to BICSI Standards,” said BICSI Middle East Africa District Chair Ayman AboSlema, RCDD, DCDC, NTS, OSP, CT, CDCDP, CCDA, CCNA. “We are excited to have BICSI presence in Dubai with more focus on MEA region.  The 2017 BICSI MEA Conference in Dubai was attended by representatives from Middle East, South Africa, Australia, Philippines, Turkey and Japan, amongst other regions. We are creating enhanced networking and knowledge sharing activities throughout the year for sustained engagement of the ICT professionals in MEA. BICSI will continue to expand its efforts throughout this area and around the globe.”

The BICSI Middle East and Africa Conference featured leading international and regional experts on topics including ‘The Rise & Rise of IoT’, ‘Latest Wireless Deployment Trends for Smart Cities’; ‘The Internet of Things and its Impact on the Physical Layer’; ‘Electronic Security in Airports’; and ‘Best Practices in Data Center Design and Operations’; amongst others.
