ASTAD Project Management, hosted an appreciation gathering for Qatar Olympic Committee and ASTAD teams who were involved in completing the Lusail Sports Arena and Ali bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena-- venues that hosted the 24th  Men's Handball Championship in Qatar.

In a show of unity, and to express gratitude to staff for their valuable efforts, dedication and team work that resulted in the development of two of the most sophisticated sports landmarks in the region, ASTAD held the lavish get-together at the Lusail Sports Arena. Certificates of appreciation along with trophies were granted to key members of staff at the reunion for their contribution in delivering the impressive feats that the projects are.

Addressing the guests at the event was ASTAD CEO Ali Al-Khalifa who said "The Lusail Sports Hall and Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena are not only examples of our strong commitment to excellence but also reflect our deep understanding of the long-term implications of our projects. These projects have won Qatar global attention and international acclaim and we have ensured our work is always directly linked to building and shaping the future of Qatar in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The success of these projects would not have been possible without the invaluable input and expertise of our professionals. Our teams at Lusail and Ali bin Hamad Al Attiya set new standards for the concepts of commitment, dedication and proficiency."

The opening and closing ceremonies for the 24th Men's  Handball World Championship were held at Lusail Sports Arena. This state of the art sports hall along with Ali bin Hamad Al Attiya were the main venues of the spectacle and will be the bastion of Qatari sports legacy to come.

Senior Project Manager, Imad Ali said: "The success of any project mainly depends on our ability as project managers to overcome challenges and cope with changes in scope and design yet still deliver large scale projects on time and according to the highest industry standards. We knew from the very beginning that projects of this size will require impeccable teamwork. It is through our teamwork, diligence and innovation that we managed to take on feats like Lusail Sports Arena with a 22-month deadline, and 18 months on Ali bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena. This factor brought about a variety of challenges and required innovative solutions to overcome them."

The creative impact and innovation of Qatar nationals were visible throughout the project lifecycle.  Senior Interior Designer Maryam  Al Kuwari changed the pattern and colors of the seats in the venue along with the style and furniture of VIP and VVIP sections drawing on concepts from Qatari culture and tradition.

ASTAD were involved with both projects from the very beginning and had managed the operational processes of all associated infrastructure. The team won Sustainability Initiative of the Year for its delivery of the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena, at the Construction Week Qatar Awards held in September 2014. Both projects were awarded the prestigious 4 star GSAS certification, along with the Building Project of the Year 2015 at the MEED Quality Awards for Ali bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena.
