College of Engineering and Computer Science expands their masters' program according to demand forecasts

Abu Dhabi - The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at Abu Dhabi University (ADU) recently held an information session on the college's Masters of Science (MSc) in Computer Science program (MScCS). The session, held at the Khalifa campus, was led by Dr. Aly Nazmy, Dean of CECS, and was attended by senior students in their last year of undergraduate studies.

"We are experiencing a 75% increase in applications flooding in, and have no doubt that the program expansions will prove to be just as successful. The fact that it is available to students in a university they are familiar with encourages them to continue their studies and obtain a graduate degree," said Dr Nazmy. "This masters program, available for the second year now, is considered one of the leading of its kind in the region. It distinguishes itself by being supervised by a faculty with vast experience in business, academia and third generation IT technology. Another factor behind the success of CECS is that they have the latest technological means at their disposal. All of this is probably what attracts people to our masters program, especially CEOs who account for a large sum of the new demand we are experiencing."

The content of MScCS, has been specifically designed to prepare smart, new, innovative, and multi-skilled Information Communication Technology (ICT) knowledge professionals, who will become leading executives of the future. They will be equipped to build the emerging dynamic, global information age by combining the study of computer science methodologies, components of software systems/telecommunications and multimedia technologies.

Available fields of specialisation are threefold: Software Systems Concentration (Programming); Computer Networks Concentration and General MScCS Degree.

Admission procedures and requirements are similar to those of other renowned universities of the UAE; Students are required to have obtained a Bachelor's degree from a well-known university as well as a GPA (Grade Point average) of 3-4 along with a TOEFL score of 550.

The information session held is a continuation of ADU's on-going process to promote its graduate programs among its undergraduate students, as well as, working professionals who decide to pursue graduate studies. In the recent past, ADU held information sessions for its MBA program which saw the participation of a large audience from various sectors. Graduate classes at ADU are taught by distinguished senior faculty members from prestigious internationally recognised universities, who have contributed significantly to their respective fields.
