The Central Bank of the UAE is set to introduce a new Dh100 currency note with added security features from Tuesday.

The new security features will be incorporated on the front side of the currency bill, according to an advertisement in Khaleej Times.

The central bank said the new currency note will be put in circulation as legal tender, along with the existing Dh100 notes currently in circulation.

The new note includes a colour changing security feature, which is printed at the left-hand bottom corner on the front side of the note.

When the note is tilted, the colour of the note shifts from green to blue and also shows a bar or light moving from top to bottom.

In addition, the existing colour shifting thread has been changed with a new advanced three dimensional security thread.

The central bank said original silver filigree foil has been removed. Also, the "100" denomination value on the bottom right side of the note has been removed.

The apex bank warned UAE residents against the circulation of fake banknotes. In May 2017, authorities seized counterfeit money amounting to $20 million in Ajman.
