Muscat resident, Rashmi Sahay, who recently won the title of Mrs India Asia Pacific Tourism held in the Indian state of Goa, is all excited to represent her country at the next level in March next year in Singapore.
This event will be much bigger and tougher than the one in Goa. “This contest will be higher, stronger and tougher. But I am confident of myself. I have started preparations and I am learning violin as well. I will have to face contestants from most of the Asia Pacific countries.”
But challenges don’t deter this woman who balances motherhood and passion with equal poise. “I have two small children so balancing is a sort of challenge but, I am quite positive that I can face any situation and circumstance with a smile. I am a dreamer and work hard to achieve my dreams. I am a very emotional person too and so I cannot leave any work incomplete.”
She added that her main aim as the winner of a beauty pageant is to motivate people to make a change to the world and work towards making a positive impact on society. “I am trying to inspire other women and girls to dream big and achieve great heights,” she said.
Rashmi cannot thank her second home Oman enough for all the support she has got so far.
“Many Omani brothers and sisters and friends have come forward to help me with my preparations. We are working together on many social causes. The Indian Embassy in Oman has welcomed me with open arms. I am really grateful to H E Indra Mani Pandey, India’s Ambassador to Oman and the staff at the embassy for all the love and support.”
Rashmi feels beauty pageants today are more about inner beauty. “In a beauty pageant, more than the physical beauty what is important is the kind of person you are and how well you represent your country and yourself. The contest doesn’t look out for models but role models.”
