Muscat: Students who want to experience one of Oman’s first 7D cinema need to head to Nizwa at the earliest.
The city is now home to an educational 7D cinema which is housed at the Nizwa Science and Technology Centre, and is sponsored by BP Oman.
The cinema was inaugurated by Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, the minister of Education; in the presence of Khalid Al Kindi, BP Oman’s vice president for government relations; and Dr Aflah bin Ahmed Al Kindi, the director general of the Directorate General of Education in the Dakhiliyah Governorate.
“The 7D educational cinema aligns with BP Oman’s social investment programme’s objectives of supporting the local educational framework. The educational sector is fast evolving, therefore, it is imperative to keep up with the global trends,” said Shamsa Al Rawahi, BP Oman’s social investment manager. “Employing modern technologies in education create dynamic and interactive learning environments for students, which aid indeveloping the students’ information retention capacity.”
The educational cinema is considered as an essential addition to the Nizwa Science and Technology Centre’s facilities. It is sought to create a fun learning environment through various practical and scientific educational lessons. The hall utilises seven-dimensional technology that allows beneficiaries to experience interactive and entertaining lessons through different motions and movements. The project is first-of-its-kind in the Sultanate. It is equipped with 200 educational movies licensed for 10 years, 100 entertainment movies and six documentaries licenced for life.
The cinema targets various segments of the community that includes students, faculty members and other groups, who will be introduced at a later stage.
