Muscat - The Ministry of Manpower is exerting all efforts to provide job opportunities through its various directorates and departments.

Salim bin Naseer al Hadrami, director of Planning and Development at the Ministry of Manpower, said that this year more than 27,000 citizens have been appointed in the private sector. They are concentrated in three main sectors: construction, sale, distribution and industry. The three sectors accounted for 58 per cent of the recruitment.

Hadrami said that the construction sector, despite the lack of projects, has managed to recruit more than 8,000 citizens. He pointed out that travel and tourism sectors managed to employ six per cent this year, while the logistics sector appointed about five per cent. He said that these figures will double in the coming period, as several measures are being taken by MoM in this field to urge the private sector to achieve the Omanisation rate.

Eng Mohammed bin Salem al Busaidi, head of Youth and Human Resources Development Committee at the Majlis A’Shura said that the national programme for leadership development to empower the middle and upper Omani administrations in the private sector reflects the government's interest in national cadres, which aims to raise the percentage of Omanis to 20 per cent in the middle and upper jobs in the private sector.

Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed al Harthy, executive director of Takatuf Oman, said that he was pleased to sign the agreement with MoM to launch the national programme for leadership development, which is one of the initiatives of Tanfeedh.

He added that the programme aims to train middle and senior leaders. The programme consists of three main stages distributed across the year. He explained that the main objective of the programme is to prepare qualified national cadres capable of holding leadership positions in key sectors in the private sector.
