In Tunisia the ICT sector currently accounts for 11% of the country's GDP. Efforts are underway to further boost this contribution to reach 13% in the next 5 years. To achieve this goal, the country is heavily investing in its ICT infrastructure.
It should also be added that Tunisia's commitment to set up technological spaces equipped with the latest international standards, is leading an increasing number of foreign investors to invest in the ICT sector.
In line with this strategy, a cyberpark was recently put into service on Monday in Zaghouan, located 60 km from the capital.
A study day was held on Monday to highlight the chief goals of the project and notably the edification of the knowledge society, the creation of high added value innovative projects, and the coachning of young entrepreneurs in the ICT sector.
The cyberpark which will offer a remote work platform was set up at an investment cost of 1,2 million dinars. The center is equipped with the latest cutting edge technology and Internet broadband connection.
Chairing the opening of this study day, the Minister of Communication Technologies, Mr Hadj Gley, said that the main aim behind the creation of the cyberpark was to support young ICT promoters in setting up their projects. He also highlighted Tunisia's competitive advantages in the ICT sector.
Cyberparks are increasingly becoming the focus of investments in the ICT sector in the regions, especially insofar as the development of software, website creation, mapping, and translation and accounting services, are concerned.
