Dubai: A man has been accused of molesting a seven-year-old girl while teaching her how to recite the Quran when they were alone inside the dinning room of her parents’ house.
The 30-year-old Bangladeshi man, A.B., who is a private Quran tutor, was said to have molested the Pakistani child by touching her indecently and making her touch him in May.
Prosecutors have accused A.B. of molesting the girl and asked for the implementation of the toughest punishment applicable against him.
The suspect entered a guilty plea when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.
“Yes, I touched her… I ask the court for mercy,” the defendant told presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi in courtroom seven.
The Pakistani child testified to prosecutors that the incident took place when A.B. was giving her and her brother a Quran lesson.
“The suspect was teaching us the Quran on a Saturday afternoon… the suspect put his hand inside my pants and touched me in a bad way. Then he made me do something bad to him. When he finished, he cleaned my hand and his with a napkin and threw it away. Shortly after he left, I told my dad what happened. My dad kept the napkin. Then the police came to our house and we told them what happened,” the girl claimed to prosecutors.
Meanwhile the father claimed during prosecution questioning that his five-year-old son told him that the Quran teacher is a bad person.
“When I asked him why, my daughter came to me and told me that she wanted to stop learning the Quran with A.B. When I asked her why, she claimed the suspect molested her and did bad stuff to her. I picked up the napkin and kept it until the police came,” the father claimed to prosecutors.
The defendant was cited confessing to prosecutors that he molested the schoolgirl twice within 10 days.
A ruling will be heard on Sunday [June 29].
