MUSCAT -- Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) yesterday named Wael Ahmed al Lawati as the chief executive officer of the company. Al Lawati was earlier tasked with establishing Waterfront Investments Co, which launched The Wave, Muscat tourism project in Oman. A graduate in engineering, he has over 15 years of experience in diverse roles in public-private partnership ventures, project management, major contract strategy development and investment promotion.
Al Lawati held several positions including Middle East Executive Committee Vice Chairman of Urban Land Institute, Vice Chairman and board member of the Oman Society of Engineers, member of the Founding Board of Oman Society of Contractors and member of the Young Arab Leaders Organisation. He was also a member of the Oman Investment Working Group which reviews current investment related legislation and means of attracting FDI.
