MUSCAT — The Tender Board yesterday held its fifth meeting of the year under the chairmanship of Malik bin Suleiman Al Ma’amari, minister for transport and telecommunications, and the board chairman.

The meeting awarded tenders worth RO24.3 million, notably a project to construct Rustaq Maskan road at a total cost of RO9.6 million, the consultancy services of a project to establish a power and desalination plant in the wilayat of Sohar at a cost of RO981,000, a tender worth RO2.031 million to print and supply text books for the academic year 2003-2005, a tender valued RO270,000 to supply surgical material for Royal Hospital, a project worth RO1.050 million to design and construct Al Hamra Wadi Hatt road in the wilayat of Al Hamra, a project valued RO1.383 million to construct an additional building at Sultan Qaboos University Engineering College and a tender worth RO1.732 million to supply, install, integrate, test and operate a fibre optic cable link of Sinaw Hajj Masirah and a microwave link for Sana’ah Masirah section.

The board also opened some tender envelopes including a project to construct Falaj Al Mashayekh road in the wilayat of Ja’alan Bani Bu Hassan in the Sharqiyah region, another project to design and implement Seeq road in the wilayat of Al Kamil Wal Wafi in the Sharqiyah region, a third one to construct a basic education school for boys at Saih Al Hail in the wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid in the Sharqiyah region and others.

The meeting also looked into other topics including a project to establish the external Internet network of the Knowledge Oasis and Amendment Order No.(10) on establishing the Sharqiyah power grid and Amendment Order No.(1) on constructing a building for the office of the representative of His Majesty the Sultan and took appropriate decisions in their regard. The board also discussed other topics referred by the ministries and government departments. — ONA
