Muscat: Leadership, technology and sustainability are to be the three main topics of discussion at the eighth edition of the Global HSE conference and exhibition, which is to begin in Oman on 13 February.

Organised under the theme “Excellence in HSE – leadership, sustainability, technology”, the conference will be held under the patronage of Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

“A number of local and international speakers, experts, technicians, specialists and academics are expected to participate to introduce their experiences in the field of HSE,” said a Ministry of Energy and Minerals statement.

This is “in addition to a number of regional and international countries, and more than 50 companies from different local and international organisations to highlight the latest technologies and experiences related to HSE, such as devices, equipment, and modern system applications.”

The objectives of the conference are to continue the traditions of creating sustainable platforms for the HSE sector, emphasise leadership commitments and the use of technology, and to focus on sustainable goals for organisations, given the challenges of the current market.

Conference topics include process safety management, international HSE management standards, pandemic risk and response management for major industries, energy efficiency and climate change, and successful practical experiences in the areas of HSE.

The exhibition that runs alongside the conference will be held from 13 to 16 February.

The Global HSE 2022 conference comes as an initiative of Petroleum Development Oman in cooperation with organisers iCONEX. The conference aims to continue the tradition of creating a sustainable platform for the industry to discuss and debate on various challenges faced by the industry and community, and ultimately conclude by finding solutions for protecting the lives of people and the environment.

It also aims to lay more emphasis on three pillars – leadership commitment, use of technology, and mainstream focus on sustainable goals that organisations can persist with during the current competitive and challenging market conditions, while also needing to meet legal requirements and communities’ expectations.
