KUWAIT, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) said Tuesday Al-Qurain Cultural Festival would begin next Sunday with honoring people who received the State of Kuwait awards.
Taleb Al-Rifae, NCCAL's director of culture and arts, told a news conference the festival, held under auspices of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah, would start with honoring the Kuwaitis who received State's awards in appreciation of their works.
Al-Qurain Cultural Festival is one of the key cultural events in Kuwait and the region, and is focusing on Kuwaiti tradition, said Al-Rifae, who is also Festival's manager.
The festival, he added, included a host of local, Arab and international cultural and artistic activities, as well as visits to historic sites and cultural centers.
Kuwaiti poet Ahmad Al-Saqqaf will be honored for his role in enriching the cultural and artistic movements in Kuwait.
The major seminar, said Al-Rifae, is about "culture and development" and will feature a number of researchers and people interested in the culture in Kuwait.
Musicals and folkloric dances will be organized during the festival, he said, in addition plays.
